Word Matters Too

(ArtSway, May 2011)


Publication to accompany ArtSway's 2009 seminar at the New Forest Pavilion in Venice, presented in partnership with the Arts Institute at Bournemouth, which showed work by Jordan Baseman, Alex Frost, Dinu Li, Hannah Maybank and Nathaniel Mellors. Word Matters Too includes Gemma's story 'Memory Colours,' originally commissioned by The Photographers' Gallery, and her essay on the relationship between the written word and contemporary art.

Dark is the Night

(The Photographers' Gallery, April 2009)


Filming in Soho, artist Jordan Baseman interviewed some of its residents, ranging from the notorious to the anonymous. These were interspersed with footage of Soho itself. A book to accompany The Photographers' Gallery exhibition includes text from David Barrett and, printed for the first time, Gemma's story 'Memory Colours.'
